AT A GLANCE
As one of the 17 official languages of India, English takes the role of an associate official language along with Hindi, which is the official...The language has been well established in the country and has acquired its own independent identity.Indians are familiar with both types of English,British and American English, but Indian English has created its own character in the country. English plays the key role to grow the professional relationship between foreign and Indian book publishers.

Books for children

Books for children in India have changed from simple fantasy and mythological stories that are rich in morals and traditions to those that reflect the new changing society and Sc-Fi.
There are a large number of publishers in India but only about 50 of them publish children’s books and a still smaller number specialize in publishing children’s books— a sad truth for a country with over 125 million children and an ever increasing demand for books of good quality.

India's growing book market

At present India represents one of the best English book markets in the world. It can be told in terms of book sells and the number of books being published. Though publishing is an uneasy world where there is a constant tension between publishers and sales marketting team, But the volume of readers has grown  by at least 35% in the last five years. This is a good sign. Even the on line book shops have changed the nature of book shopping. Now, the book lovers can buy books directly.
As the book selling grows a number of foreign publishers flock to India.  International bestselling author Ken Follett once said 'India is growing enormously and increasing numbers of books are being sold here. There are apparently 89 million people in India for whom English is the first language. It is more than the number in England. This country is prospering and growing enormously.'
